Did you know that in the Greek language there are 3 distinct words for love?
Eros love is better known as romantic love.
Philia love is more commonly known as brotherly love.
Agape love is a type of sacrificial love and is usually the kind of love referred to in the New Testament.
Whereas eros and philia love is based on a give and take between the two parties involved.
Agape love is about serving others, looking out for our fellow man, not holding transgressions against others, and being kind to our enemies.
Today, I’m going to share with you 9 scriptures on how we should love one another.
9 Scriptures on How To Love One Another

1.“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
2.“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:9-10
3.“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
4.“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8
5.“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great…” Luke 6:35
6.“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Galatians 5:13-14
7.“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2
8.“Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8
9.“Live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:2
Final Thoughts
Loving our brothers and sisters in Christs is one of the most important things we can do as believers.
Why? Because our love for each other and the world around us proves that we are Christs’ disciples.
“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35, (emphasis mine)
And while we are familiar with eros and philia love, agape love is a little harder for us to show if we try to do it on our own.
However, if we are in Christ he will continue to pour his Agape love into us and we will be able to love each other as Christ loves us.
Until Next Time,
EJ

Yes, his love is awesome! Thank you for commenting Arrica.
People typically think of love as a feeling they get, but each scripture you posted was a call to action. This is proof that in order to love, we all have to actively make a choice. These are great reminders.
Hi Brandi! Thanks for commenting! Yes, love is definitely more than just a feeling. We have to put action with it. Jesus showed his love not just in word, but in action as well.
